Wilson Security Racing has today announced Jack Perkins as the co driver for car #47 in the endurance races.

Best mates, Tim Slade and Jack Perkins, will pair up in the Wilson Security Racing entry, an SBR prepared Falcon that is run under the James Rosenberg licence, at the L&H 500 at Phillip Island and the Supercheap Bathurst 1000.

Jack, son of Larry Perkins,  has raced at Mt Panorama four times but never in the seat of a Ford. This weekend, twenty-three year old Perkins will get his first taste of an SBR Ford Falcon when he drives the #47 car in the first two sessions of Practice at Winton Raceway on Friday.

This weekend will also see Jack compete in the Fujitsu Development Series after taking a recent victory in the final race at QLD Raceway earlier this month.

"It's great to be back in the main game for the enduros with a team with the record of Stone Brothers. It's going to be good to pair up with Tim, being that he is a good mate of mine and we are similar height and size should make it pretty good", said Perkins.

"I know my role is to bring the car back to Tim and try and secure a good result for the team and sponsors. I think our chances are pretty good really, we know what we both want from the car so I think if we just go about our business a bit quietly we should have a good run.

"Tim and I get along really well on a personal and professional level, we know what we have to do when the helmet goes on, it should be good fun to race together but there is also a serious side.

"SBR are a top shelf team, they have prepared solid race cars for many years and I am really looking forward to this weekend when ill get to jump in the WSR #47 Falcon and have a drive for the first time.

"Obviously my goal is to get back in a fulltime drive next year, but you can't lose sight of the fact that this about getting a good result for Tim, WSR, SBR and James Rosenberg, so that's my priority at the moment."

Tim Slade who also lives with Perkins, his mate of ten years, is thrilled to have him as his partner for Phillip Island and Bathurst.

"Jack and I have been friends for a long time, we met each other in our karting days. I won the Australian CIK Junior Championship with Jack as my mechanic so we have built up a pretty strong relationship since then.

"Ever since James put the deal together with SBR to run me in the main series I have always had Jack in the back of my mind for the enduros, I think he is a perfect fit, I have a lot of faith in him, he is more than capable of doing the job.

Team owner, James Rosenberg, is also very optimistic about the potential of mates Jack and Tim sharing the drive in the WSR #47 Falcon.  "After looking at quite a few options we decided on Jack.  One of the main reasons was that both Tim and Jack aren't driven by egos.  They are good mates, they know the rules and they know how to do the job for Wilson Security Racing", said Rosenberg.

"Jack is currently doing a superb job in my VE in the Development Series and he is getting plenty of miles under his belt."

Naming Rights sponsor Wilson Security CEO, John McMellan is also a supporter of the decision.  "We are pleased to have two young, emerging and talented drivers together and this provides Jack with a tremendous opportunity to once again demonstrate his capabilities.  I am sure they will be a great pairing."

The first of the endurance rounds is the L&H 500 at Phillip Island on September 10 - 12 followed by the the Supercheap Bathurst 1000 on October 7 - 10.
